Spreading means the folding of teeth one to the right and one to the left after each other.
It aims to enlarge the space around the saw blade: through this stocking into the material can be avoided. Teeth spreading and band saw blade infeed happens via hand power (arm). By moving this arm to the front, blade infeed is done, by moving it back spreading of two teeth happens: one to the right, one to the left.
